Job summary

Samson Sky in Prineville, Oregon seeks a Mechanical Engineer ME 2 to design, analyze, and fabricate aircraft and automotive systems for prototype vehicles. You will translate first principles into SolidWorks models, perform FEA/CFD analysis, and produce manufacturing drawings.

The role requires hands-on build, testing, and documentation, plus the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with clear progress updates. Prior experience with prototype testing and powertrain emphasis is valued.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Experience with prototype design, fabrication and testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and fabricate aircraft and automotive systems (powertrain, suspension, controls, structures, etc.).
• Develop tests and documentation for prototype builds and testing.
• Work in a small team with frequent progress updates to accelerate design iterations.
• Assess prototype parts for quality and accuracy per drawings.
• Participate in the build, assembly, and test flights/runs of prototype vehicles.
