Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II in Kansas City, MO to design mechanical and electromechanical componentsusing 3D/2D CAD tools and to ensure buildability and customer alignment within a cross‑functional team including Production, Materials, Field Services, and R&D.

The role emphasizes applying fundamentals in mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and heat transfer, with a focus on detailed drawings, BOM content, and thorough documentation to support production and regulatory

Qualifications

• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication methods, and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with GD&T and BOM structures; exposure to ERP systems in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with relevant mechanical/building codes.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 25 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in manufacturing/product development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical components and assemblies using 3D and 2D CAD tools.
• Maintain understanding of how components fit into the complete product and design with that context.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, models, product definition drawings, and BOM content for production and assembly.
• Apply engineering fundamentals (mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, heat transfer) to design.
• Participate in feasibility studies, design reviews, and testing to validate concepts.
• Interface with Production, Materials, Field Services, and R&D to understand build, supply, and field conditions.
