About This Role

Textron Systems is seeking a full‑time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on military applications. The candidate should possess good communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with suppliers within a multidisciplinary team. The position requires experience integrating component‑design solutions into an overall assembly and a US citizen who is eligible for or has a secret‑level security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Participating in the detailed design of structural components.
  • Being a member of a team responsible for the development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.
  • Creation of Technical Data Packages that include 3D drawings, specifications and materials lists for component and assemblies of mechanical and electro‑mechanical applications.
  • Preparing and directing high quality mechanical and electro‑mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
  • Transitioning product design to production and test.
  • Writing technical and proposal documents.
  • Creating detailed design reports and presentations to summarize design/analysis results.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 2+ years of related experience (Level II).
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 5+ years of related experience (Level III).
  • Comfortable as a designer of mechanical components and systems subjected to extreme hypersonic flight conditions.
  • Packaging design of electronic systems and interconnects, development of interface control documents, and understanding of designing for manufacturing and assembly techniques.
  • CAD design utilizing 3D digital product development tools with an understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Skilled utilization of 3D digital manufacturing information to influence design definition options allowing manufacturable detailed assemblies and material schedules subject to configuration management.
  • Ability to generate product performance specifications, mass property summary reports, and detailed design summary technical reports.
  • Demonstrated Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) skills a plus.
  • Possesses or has ability to obtain a Secret‑level security clearance.

*This role is open at multiple levels. Candidates will be hired at a level consistent with their background and experience:

Level II: $92,600–$139,600

Level III: $115,800–$176,200

In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $92,600 – $176,200 per year.
