Job description

Overview

Mechanical Engineer II (Job Number: 331193). Textron Systems’ recent growth has established the need for a full time junior level Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design of large-scale assemblies and components that will be used on our Operational Simulators and Maintenance Training Devices.

Responsibilities
  • 2-4 years of design experience.
  • Strong communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate should be comfortable interacting with peers, Program Management, senior management, customer representatives and other stakeholders.
  • This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a secret level security clearance.
Qualifications
  • The candidate should be comfortable as a designer of mechanical systems subjected to both static and dynamic operational conditions, including considerations for system safety and human engineering. The candidate should have familiarity with the selection and application of materials, with the aim of balancing cost, manufacturability, and safety.
  • The candidate should be familiar with designing assemblies and components that range in complexity, size, and scale that include both static and dynamic for multiphysics influenced design assemblies with complex materials and components. The activities include packaging design of electronics systems and interconnects, the development of interface control documents, and understanding of designing for manufacturing and assembly techniques.
  • The candidate should be well versed in CAD design utilizing 3D digital product development tools and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Skilled utilization of 3D digital product development for CAD product and manufacturing information control, dimensioning and tolerancing, detailed assemblies and material schedules, configuration management, presentation dynamic modeling to develop meaningful and required design documentation. Also, proficiency with structural FEA and static load analysis are plusses.
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) skills a plus.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management Digital Integration Model (NX, Teamcenter) including product specification development, surface finish and material specification via PMP written design detailed documentation, presentation, and proposal preparation.
Education

BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

2-4 Years minimum in related field
