Position Title: Mechanical Engineer II

Position Type: Full-Time

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Facilities Manager of Building Systems

Art and Wellness Enterprises (AWE) is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as Mechanical Engineer II. AWE supports operating non-profits founded by Alice Walton including the Alice L. Walton Foundation, Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, Art Bridges, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Momentary, and Heartland Whole Health Institute.

About the Position:

The Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for general daily maintenance and operation on all aspects of HVAC, mechanical, boiler, and plumbing systems. Although the position requires some scheduling flexibility, its work schedule is primarily 40 hours per week.

What you will do:

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform temporary testing and integration of facility systems.
  • Assist in all standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Monitor and maintain the HVAC control systems.
  • Monitor and maintain the boiler systems.
  • Assist in the development of planned maintenance schedules for all mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Respond to and manage work orders, keep logs of inspections, and tool inventory through the centralized maintenance management system.
  • Assist in inspections for regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with the safety program, monitoring compliance with applicable building and safety codes, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, hazardous materials, etc.
  • May be required to participate in the on-call rotation.

Qualifications required for your success:

  • Working knowledge of construction and building maintenance.
  • 3-5 years working knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, boiler, refrigeration and building control management equipment and systems.
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of federal, state, and local law, code, and regulations applicable to the work, including regulations applicable to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Trouble shooting/ analyzing systems – Problem Solving Skills.
  • Ability to learn our centralized maintenance management system.
  • Ability to work independently and with initiative.
  • Ability to effectively contribute to a project team dynamic.
  • Ability to cross train within the facilities department.
  • Ability to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to respond to emergency situations.

Physical demands: In the work environment described below, position requires verbal and written conversation with others, sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, strenuous lifting/moving objects up to 75 lbs., and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. This position requires good visual acuity to perform the duties assigned.

Work environment: Position is full-time. Work will be performed in a public setting, inside an office environment and outside in the weather/elements. Work environment may include exposure to potentially hazardous chemical solutions. The noise level is low to moderate and equipment operation may lead to higher levels for a duration. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends/evenings, and available for on-call emergencies may be necessary to support operational needs. Capable of performing other duties as assigned.
