Engineer II role at CTG includes product design and manufacture, review and approval of engineering designs, running thermal and mechanical simulations, and report writing. The Engineer II is expected to be self-directed with oversight from senior engineers, asking questions appropriately and demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills. We seek a team player with attention to detail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to proposals, presentations, reports, and technical guides as directed.
- Document results routinely for internal records and report deliverables.
- Work collaboratively on projects.
- Comply with QMS processes and procedures.
- Comply with all CTG SOPs.
- Work with customers and vendors related to the job.
Engineer II Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and test prototypes of devices.
- Manage the sales production schedule, determining in-house work or outsourcing.
- Design parts and assemblies using SolidWorks and create drawings.
- Proficient in GD&T.
- Experience with PDM for file management and ECO for change management.
- Analyze problems using thermal and mechanical simulations.
- Design or redesign products based on analysis and SolidWorks models.
- Manufacture prototypes and products as directed.
- Analyze test results and modify designs accordingly.
- Review prototypes or product designs and engineering drawings for mechanical integrity.
- Collaborate with the QMS Lead on SOPs for engineering processes.
- Perform maintenance and engineering tasks as needed.
- Assist manufacturing with CAM creation, tool selection, and process improvements.
- Participate in research and development for new designs.
- Design for manufacturability and assembly.
- Familiarize with RF measurements using CTG's lab systems.
- Ensure quality assurance of hardware and assemblies.
- Write and edit project reports.
- Lead or support manufacturing measurement systems for customers.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, sales, lab, and software teams.
- Knowledge of FMEA, 8D, AS9100, and composites manufacturing is a plus.
Qualifications
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
- 3-5 years of hands-on engineering experience.
- Proficiency in 3D design software, especially SolidWorks.
- RF, Electrical Engineering, or Physics background is a plus.
- Experience with power tools and machine shop quotes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with databases and virtual meetings.
- Software skills: SolidWorks, PDM, Thermal and Mechanical Simulation, Jira, Confluence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High-level reasoning, problem definition, data collection, and conclusion drawing.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and handle multiple variables.
- Excellent communication and attention to detail.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in an office, lab, and production environment.
- Adhere to safety and regulatory protocols.
