Marotta Controls in Parsippany, NJ is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I focused on electronics packaging. The role designs ruggedized electronics and enclosures to meet customer specs, with interface to electrical engineering for sizing and materials.

The position emphasizes CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and collaboration across teams, with growth into design for manufacturability and qualification testing. Occasional travel may occur.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required; advanced degree desirable.
• 0-5 years design experience (electronics packaging expertise preferred).
• Ability to solve complex mechanical static & dynamic problems.
• Works precisely, accurately, and pays close attention to details.
• High level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
• Experience in 3D CAD solid modeling and understanding of mechanical design principles (CREO desirable).
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills for multi-faceted interactions.
• High computer literacy with MS Office; ability to use relevant systems.

Responsibilities

• Preliminary CAD design of electronics/electronics enclosures.
• Coordinate sizing of circuit card assemblies with electrical engineers.
• Ensure accuracy of drawings and tolerance stack-ups.
• Create preliminary BOM and verify accuracy in the system.
• Review preliminary analytical results (hand calcs/FEA).
• Dispositions for non-conforming hardware and assist with issues.
• Participate in design reviews (internal/external).
• Support new business pursuit activities as required.
