Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I for the Energetics Propulsion team in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on propulsion system development for missile and space vehicle integration, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across disciplines and with suppliers.

Onsite work in Tucson and international travel may be required. You will support development programs, manage subcontracts, and present technical findings to management and government agencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field by start date.
  • Experience in developing solid propulsion systems from concept to test/assembly.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System in project settings.
  • Proven ability to lead proposals, cost accounts, and project teams.
  • Ability to work with structural, thermal, aerodynamics, and low observables disciplines.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support suppliers.
  • Experience with missile design, production support, or integration is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced technologies and principles to propulsion system integration for missiles and space vehicles.
  • Oversee propulsion subsystem development and subcontract management; review data and change requests.
  • Lead collaborative efforts across technical disciplines and communicate capabilities to management and government agencies.
  • Deliver technical presentations to management and government stakeholders.
  • Interface with customers to identify user needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Manage supplier collaboration and ensure compliance with SOWs.
