Qualdoc is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I in Marietta, OH to support the design, development, and improvement of power distribution equipment such as switchboards, PDUs, and power panels. You will work with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable products.

Responsibilities include developing designs and drawings, participating in design reviews, and creating prototypes for testing and optimization.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of SolidWorks CAD experience, including thermal and structural evaluation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a team environment.

Mechanical Engineer I – Power Distribution

Location: Marietta, OH
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Position Overview

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to support the design, development, and improvement of power distribution and protection equipment, including switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and power panels. This role works closely with engineering, production, supply chain, service, and other teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and release mechanical designs, drawings, and related documentation for new and updated products.
  • Participate in design reviews, verification activities, and design improvements.
  • Create mechanical prototypes and support fabrication, testing, and post-prototype improvements.
  • Independently coordinate small engineering projects and track required deliverables.
  • Work with production, supply chain, service, and other departments to support successful product development.
  • Assist with product customization, lifecycle management, ECN, and product optimization.
  • Apply engineering standards and customer/project requirements to mechanical designs.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design and engineering documentation.
  • 2+ years of SolidWorks CAD experience, including thermal and structural evaluation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with power protection equipment and the data center market.
  • Knowledge of UL and IEC electrical safety standards and their application to products.
  • Experience with PLM software.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Experience designing test fixtures.
  • Experience with switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, and UL 508 panels.
  • Collaborative, solution-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
Work Environment

This position offers the opportunity to work directly on the mechanical design and development of electrical power equipment, from initial concepts and prototypes through product optimization and ongoing engineering support.
