Job summary

Randolph & Baldwin, Inc. in Massachusetts seeks a Mechanical Engineer I to design, develop, test, and implement mechanical systems under a senior engineer.

A working knowledge of machining, welding, and casting helps shape designs, with emphasis on high-quality, detail-oriented work. You will build 3D models, perform GD&T, analyze tolerances, and collaborate with machinists and fabricators to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 0–3 years' manufacturing experience; co-ops or capstone projects count.
• U.S. Person status required for ITAR data access.
• On-site work in Ayer, MA in a manufacturing environment.
• CAD and Microsoft Office proficiency; comfortable with trig.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 3D models and drawings in CAD under supervision.
• Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and maintain drawing revisions.
• Develop manufacturable designs and perform tolerance analysis.
• Collaborate with machinists and fabricators to resolve issues.
• Coordinate with supply chain for RFQs and cost review.
• Track lead times and flag schedule risks early.
• Oversee prototypes and testing; document results.
• Support design reviews and quality assurance activities.
• Assist in project timelines and budgets.
