Job summary

The Global Edge Consultants seeks a Mechanical Engineer I for an onsite, 12-month contract in Houston, TX. The role focuses on evaluating design packages, enforcing standards, and driving capital efficiency within an enterprise engineering team.

Ideal candidates are early-career engineers with strong technical foundations and clear communication skills, prepared to support major energy infrastructure projects and collaborate across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical design standards and codes for piping, vessels, machinery.
• Ability to manage tight delivery schedules and shifting priorities.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with document management systems is a plus.
• Excellent English communication, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Design Review & Quality Assurance: Evaluate and comment on mechanical deliverables, drawings, and technical docs.
• Compliance & Standards Stewardship: Ensure designs comply with specs, industry codes, and safety requirements.
• Deviation Management: Document deviations and maintain the Deviation Control Log per change-management procedures.
• Contractor & Vendor Coordination: Manage RFIs/TQRs and participate in on-site reviews as needed.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Align with multi-disciplinary teams and update leads on progress and risks.
• Capital Efficiency & Best Practices: Support initiatives to improve design efficiency across the project.
