Job summary

F5 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I as part of our Summer 2026 Internship return program, to explore, develop, and deliver innovative mechanical solutions aligned with product development priorities.

You will work on design, testing, and qualification for our next generation product platform, collaborating with a cross-functional team, and contributing to requirements, analysis, and problem solving on-site in San Jose, CA.

Qualifications

• Summer 2026 internship completed with F5.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field graduating between Dec 2026 and Sep 2027.
• Must be able to start by Sep 30, 2027.
• Onsite work required; fully remote not available.
• Ability to design/solve engineering problems with senior level mechanical review.
• Provide technical input for mechanical projects with varied complexity.
• Ability to draw conclusions from inputs from Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient in design tools: SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, or Inventor.
• Understanding of linear/non-linear structural analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and/or multi-physics simulations.
• Understanding of tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to project design and test of mechanical efforts.
• Communicate key information to senior mechanical team for decisions.
• Learn and contribute to design requirements aligned with manufacturing and customer expectations.
• Identify and analyze design problems to meet cost and technical needs.
• Report project planning status, tasks, and deliverables at milestones.
• Pursue ongoing learning to broaden mechanical knowledge.
