Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to design, develop, test, and deploy mechanical structures and systems for aerospace and defense programs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions across the product lifecycle.

The role involves assisting in design, performing basic analyses, and preparing technical documentation while supporting testing activities in a hybrid office environment. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 0-2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related role.
• Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and CAD software.
• Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
• Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
• Internship or project experience in aerospace or defense industry.
• Familiarity with applying and interpreting GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes.
• Knowledge of environmental requirements for components utilized in aircraft and space applications.
• Familiarity or exposure with CATIA

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems.
• Support the creation and execution of test plans for mechanical products.
• Perform basic analyses and simulations to validate designs.
• Prepare technical documentation and reports for review.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design requirements are met.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design and testing issues.
