Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a mechanical engineer to support shipboard systems, perform static analyses, and develop FE models for predicting stress and structural performance. The role also involves conducting FEA for complex structures to assess shock survivability and developing shock test procedures.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or structural engineering, be eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance, and be ready to work in confined spaces and climb submarine

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or structural engineering.
  • Ability to maintain a DOD Secret Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
  • Physically capable to conduct ship checks on United States Nuclear Submarines.
  • Be comfortable in relatively confined spaces.
  • Capable of climbing vertical ladders (20’ – 25’) within the submarine.
  • 0–2 years business experience in related field.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct static analyses of mechanical structures or develop solid models to predict stress and structural performance.
  • Conduct FEA of complex structures to determine mechanical shock survivability in a shipboard environment
  • Develop mechanical shock test procedures
  • Assist the Design Team with material selection using proper commercial and/or Military Specifications.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $69,000.00/Yr. - USD $72,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
