Job summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced MEP Mechanical Engineer to lead design for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection in higher education or data centers. You will perform energy and economic analyses and collaborate with project teams on diverse facilities projects.

This fully remote, contract-to-hire role offers flexibility and opportunities to work on healthcare, higher education, K-12, and athletics portfolios. Remote work within the United States is supported.

Qualifications

Job Title: MEP Mechanical Engineer (Higher Education or Data Centers)
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7–15 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with higher education or data center projects. (Open to other commercial projects)
  • Proficiency in mechanical engineering design for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and temperature control systems.
  • Ability to perform energy and economic analyses for building systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Revit for mechanical design and documentation.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for mechanical design and drafting.
  • Broad mechanical design experience across healthcare, higher education, K-12, and athletics projects.
  • LEED accreditation is a plus.
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) experience is a plus.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to lead and support mechanical engineering design for higher education facilities, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and temperature control systems. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $67.31/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
