Job summary

Actalent in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to oversee production engineering documentation for HVAC equipment, lead a team of engineers, and ensure compliant paperwork for fabrication, assembly, and quality control.

You will evaluate suppliers, design components, and generate technical reports while applying heat transfer and thermodynamics knowledge across AHUs, heat exchangers, heat recovery, chillers, and thermodynamic systems.

Qualifications

Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the preparation, coordination, and management of all production engineering documentation required for the manufacturing of custom and standard air handling units. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant paperwork to support fabrication, assembly, quality control, and project execution while leading a team of production engineers and technical staff.

Essential Skills

• Degree in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC.

• Proficiency in mechanical engineering, HVAC, and supplier evaluation.

• Experience with heat recovery, chillers, compressors, air handling units (AHUs), psychometrics, heat exchangers, troubleshooting, and thermal systems.

• Knowledge of heat principles, fluid mechanics, and engineering systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Professional engineering certification with the ability to stamp and sign drawings is a plus.

• Experience with ERP systems, Inventor, SolidWorks, Excel, data entry, AutoCAD, and product engineering.

• Experience in mechanical design, electrical systems, and new product development.

• Industrial experience rather than strictly academic.

Work Environment

Be part of a rapidly expanding organization in Arizona, with plans to add an additional facility. The role includes travel to Montreal, Canada or China for a 4-week training (permanent role). Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The position may be remote for 3-6 months. Permanent roles require travel, while temporary roles do not.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $47.00 - $52.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
