Job summary

Accounting Search is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for heavy industrial steel operations. You will troubleshoot equipment on the plant floor, develop specifications, manage contractors, and drive major capital projects from concept through completion, delivering measurable improvements in safety and plant performance.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in steelmaking environments, deep knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment and hydraulics, and a track record of reliability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years as a mechanical engineer in steel/heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, hydraulics, and plant systems.
• Experience with melting equipment, furnaces, or steelmaking operations is a strong plus.
• Experience managing capital projects, equipment installations, contractors, budgets, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, improve, and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems across the facility.
• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives to boost uptime and efficiency.
• Support melting and steelmaking equipment upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Provide engineering support for large baghouse and environmental systems.
• Lead capital and facility improvement projects from concept to completion.
• Develop project scopes, specifications, bids, estimates, and schedules.
• Evaluate suppliers and contractors, review proposals, and oversee external resources.
• Coordinate with internal teams to keep projects advancing.
• Manage projects to budgets, schedules, and safety requirements.
