Job summary

Phlux is building a 3D safety sensor for robotics protection. We need a Mechanical Engineer to own the entire mechanical system—from assembly and enclosure to fixtures and BOMs. You’ll work closely with firmware and software in a fast, iterative setting where you design, build, test, and learn at the bench.

The role emphasizes hands-on fabrication, rapid prototyping, and DFM as we scale production. Compensation is competitive; full-time, on-site in Point Breeze starting January 2027.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and graduating December 2026 or recently graduated.
• Co-op or internship experience in a real engineering organization.
• Fluency in CAD: SolidWorks, Fusion, Onshape, NX.
• Hands-on building with machining, fabrication, wiring, and tolerance control.
• Ability to foresee problems and ensure assemblies will actually fit and work.

Responsibilities

• Own the full mechanical system: assembly, enclosure, fixtures, and BOMs.
• Lead unit builds: sourcing, assembly, and written procedures.
• Manage vendors and BOMs: part numbers, lead times, costs.
• Design quick-turn fixtures: prototype, test, iterate quickly.
• Apply tolerance and DFM to scale production.
• Support laser eye-safety and qualification testing.
