Job summary

Subsea7, a global leader in offshore projects, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for our Customized Solutions team in Houston, TX. You will tackle challenging design problems, lead from concept to delivery, and work with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to meet project goals with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The role requires strong 3D CAD and FEM skills, experience with subsea systems, and a collaborative mindset to drive multi-disciplinary solutions in a fast-moving

Qualifications

• ACCEPTED engineering degree in mechanical/ocean/structural disciplines.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in subsea oil and gas.
• Familiarity with ABS, DNV, ASME codes and standards.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEM) tools.
• Proficient in 3D modeling and CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor).
• Experience with vendor and third‑party management.
• Strong measurement and structural design capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, and MathCad.

Responsibilities

• Lead design activities from concept through detailed design and delivery.
• Prepare technical presentations and explain product benefits to customers.
• Collaborate with sales to understand customer requirements and provide support.
• Contribute to development of Subsea7 policies and HSEQ culture.
• Support bid development with technical input and pricing for tenders.
• Interface with clients, engineers, and suppliers to determine system requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our office-based Customized Solutions team located in Houston, TX .

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Customized Solutions team you will be a problem solver with expectations to find practical answers to interesting challenges. Ideal candidates will be proficient in 3D CAD application, analysis, calculation, and package management. Candidates will be expected to be accountable for a scope of work from initial enquiry through to concept, detailed design, delivery, and project close out. The role involves working as part of a multi-disciplined team as well as client and supplier interface (internal & external).

The role is accountable for contributing to the development of all Subsea 7’s policies and procedures. All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

What will you be doing?

• - Aptitude with developing complex systems.
• - Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers and prospective customers.
• - Use technical skills to be able to explain to potential customers the benefits of our products vs. other products.
• - Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements.
• - Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support.
• - Plan and modify products to meet customer needs.
• - Help clients solve problems with installed equipment.
• - Recommend improved materials or equipment to customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production.
• - Previous operational experience in the ROV industry
• - Experience in Vendor and 3rdParty management
• - Bid support:
• - Provide technical input and pricing for external tenders.
• - Provide technical input and pricing internally for Subsea 7 tenders.
• - Develop bid documents including story board, operational methodology, and explanation of concept.
• - Communicate with client to understand and respond to clarifications.

What experience would we like you to have?

Qualifications & Skills

• - Professional qualifications – Accredited Engineering Degree. Preferably Mechanical, Ocean, or Structural
• - Relevant Engineering Experience in Subsea Oil and Gas – 5+ years.
• - Familiarity with ABS, DNV, ASME Codes and Standards, GD&T Standards
• - Finite Element Analysis Programs
• - Material Selection
• - Technical calculations
• - 3D Modeling Software
• - Excellent interpersonal skills and personal organization.
• - Strong background in mechanical/hydraulic design engineering and exposure to ROV/Diver intervention activities.
• - AutoCAD Inventor experience
• - Structural Design (Desirable but not essential)
• - Proficient in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and MathCad
