Job summary

DSM-H Consulting is seeking an early-career Mechanical Engineer to join our design team in Peoria, IL. You will support concept design, part modeling in Creo, and basic stress & life analyses under supervision.

You will collaborate with Senior Design Engineers, suppliers, and internal partners to deliver robust designs and meet project deadlines while developing your skills in practical, hands-on manufacturing contexts.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Strong understanding of reading technical drawings and prints.
• Ability to manage individual tasks with deadlines.
• Hands-on experience with Creo is essential.
• Experience with basic FEA is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Support Senior Engineer by completing design tasks.
• Potential for additional responsibility depending on experience and demonstrated success in the role.
• The worker will be performing entry-level duties and should have a genuine interest in this aspect of the role.

Typical task breakdown:

• Concept design and part modeling using Creo.
• Stress & life analysis

Interaction with team

• Works closely with Senior Design Engineer
• Interacts with suppliers, supplier development engineers, and internal Client process partners (Quality, Operations, etc.)

Team Structure

• Can be a global team - this role will be supporting the local team – with about 20 members – would be working closly with 2-3 team members
• Very experienced and welcoming team.
• Interact regularly with global team members.

Work environment

Will be located with the core design team in an office adjacent to a machining and assembly facility. Will sit in a cubical with other engineers from the team.

80% office – boots, eye, ear

Education & Experience Required

• Years of experience: 2-4 years
• Degree requirement: BS in Mechanical Engineering – relevant (Manufacturing, Automotive)
• No 2 year degrees
• Masters must still have 2 years of experience

Top 3 Skills

• Creo 3D modeling (and specifically Creo, not another modeling software)
• Reading technical drawings & prints
