Job summary

WSP USA in Riverside, California is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Property & Buildings Team. You will provide technical guidance for design, development, and construction of mechanical systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 3–5 years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, perform calculations, and ensure compliance with ASHRAE/IECC codes while delivering high-quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant post-education experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and building mechanical systems design.
  • Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IECC, local building codes).
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance for the design, development, and construction of mechanical systems for building and infrastructure projects.
  • Support HVAC system design including air distribution, hydronic systems, controls, and related building systems.
  • Assist with research, concept development, and preparation of construction documents and specifications.
  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations (e.g., load calculations) and support system sizing and selection.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze engineering data from drawings, field observations, and technical reports to support project execution.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing conditions and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
  • Contribute to technical reports and presentations to support project findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure work is delivered in alignment with WSP quality, safety, and performance standards.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
3–5 years of post-education experience
