Job summary

Ultrasonium is seeking a mechanical engineer to design mechanical and electromechanical subsystems, structures, thermal management, and motion hardware, taking designs from concept through fabrication, assembly, and test.

You will work directly with the founding team on a novel machine, own drawings, BOMs, and mechanical documentation, and collaborate with electrical, controls, and process engineering for system-level integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1–5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion, NX, or equivalent).
• Strong GD&T and design for manufacturability understanding.
• Hands-on prototyping and assembly experience.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and electromechanical subsystems in CAD.
• Perform structural and thermal analysis to support design decisions.
• Specify and integrate motion hardware, actuators, and fixtures.
• Drive fabrication (machining and related methods), assembly, and test.
• Iterate designs based on test results.
• Own drawings, BOMs, and mechanical documentation.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, and process engineering for system-level integration.
• Contribute to IP development with the founding team.
