Career-Collective is seeking a Mechanical Professional Engineer to join our Buildings, Energy and Infrastructure Group in Jacksonville, FL. You will lead multi‑discipline teams, design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for healthcare, higher education, government, and other facilities.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with mechanical focus.
  • 5-8 years of documented applicable experience on facilities similar to described.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida with current NCEES.
  • Resides in greater Central Florida area (Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, Brevard).
  • Ability to work in person at the northeast Orange County office near UCF at least 3 days weekly.
  • Significant experience using Autodesk REVIT; AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam.
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead on multi‑discipline projects for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection.
  • Serve as Lead Mechanical Engineer producing design/construction drawings and specifications; may serve as Engineer of Record.
  • Act as Client interface for project mechanical matters and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Evaluate mechanical equipment/systems and prepare design computations and assessments.
  • Generate and oversee mechanical design/construction drawings using REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Observe construction progress and prepare field observation reports.
  • Assess condition of mechanical systems in existing facilities and stay within budget and schedule.

OVERVIEW

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical PE with 5-8 years of experience as a Professional Engineer to join our Buildings, Energy and Infrastructure (BEI) Group within our Jacksonville, Florida team. In this role you will act as a technical lead as part of a multi‑discipline project team in support of Mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) systems for facility types including healthcare; higher education; institutional facilities; federal, state and local government; K‑12 education and support; and other commercial/industrial facilities.

DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL
  • Act as a technical lead as part of a multi‑discipline project team on projects in the Buildings, Energy, and Infrastructure group, in support of Mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) systems for facility types including healthcare; higher education; institutional facilities; federal, state and local government; K‑12 education and support; and other commercial/industrial facilities.
  • Serve as the Lead Mechanical Engineer for projects, producing design/construction drawings and specifications and may act as the Engineer of Record for the work performed by subordinates they supervise.
  • Act as the Client interface for project mechanical matters.
  • Undertake and direct evaluations of mechanical equipment/systems and prepare design computations and assessments.
  • Generate and oversee mechanical design/construction drawings utilizing REVIT and AutoCAD software.
  • Observe mechanical construction progress and generate field observation reports.
  • Assess the condition of mechanical systems within existing facilities.
  • Be responsible for completion of mechanical design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Assist in the development of subordinate staff in mechanical design best practices.
  • Communicate and coordinate designs, writing of reports and correspondence with other discipline professionals, as well as representatives of the Client organization to complete work efficiently.
  • Stay current with local, state & federal design standards and regulations.
  • Help develop new work and clients related to mechanical design services for healthcare; higher education; institutional facilities; federal, state and local government; K‑12 education & support; and other commercial/industrial facilities.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering with mechanical focus, from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 5-8 years of documented applicable experience working on facilities similar to those described above.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida, with current NCEES.
  • Resides in the greater Central Florida area, such as within one of the following counties: Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, Brevard.
  • Ability to work in person a minimum of three (3) days weekly in the local office located in northeast Orange County near UCF.
  • Ability to travel to project locations and client meetings throughout central, east and north Florida. Travel beyond this primary area may occasionally also be required.
  • Significant experience using Autodesk REVIT gained in a similar design‑related field. Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software, as well as Bluebeam.
  • Strong knowledge of the ASHRAE Standards commensurate with their years of experience.
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform field survey duties.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record.
