Job summary

MTech Mechanical in Westminster, CO seeks a mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer to develop mechanical construction documents for design/build projects across labs, cleanrooms, data centers and offices. You will lead technical efforts, collaborate with PreConstruction and CAD teams, and drive quality through all design phases.

The role requires a 7–10 year track record in mechanical design/build, proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit, and PE licensure or path to licensure.

Qualifications

  • HVAC Design/Building Systems Design experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain license required.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of engineering experience with mechanical design/build projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows OS and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at different levels and work in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction documents for mechanical in-house design/build projects across design phases.
  • Assist PreConstruction with conceptual designs, energy analyses, and code reviews.
  • Check and seal documents for high quality and accuracy.
  • Lead coordination with architects, general contractors and other trades.
  • Evaluate design parameters to meet technical and budget requirements.
  • Prepare HVAC load calculations, system sizing and equipment selections.
  • Participation in LEED analysis and documentation, construction observation, and commissioning support.
  • Manage engineering design budgets with Project Managers and PreConstruction.
  • Conduct building surveys for existing conditions and future work.

Wage Range: $100,000 - $125,000 + annual discretionary bonus

Job Summary

MTech Mechanical is a leading mechanical design / build contractor in Colorado, and a majority of projects are negotiated in a design build/assist arrangement. Projects are very technical, and include labs, cleanrooms, office buildings, process systems, and data centers. MTech’s reputation is built on providing reliable technical expertise and maintaining long-term client relationships.

We are seeking a mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer, with career aspirations and both technical and demonstrated leadership skills for growth potential within the Engineering Department. The engineering position focuses on the creation of mechanical construction documents and works as a support function to other departments within MTech, and the candidate will be a technical leader within MTech.

  • Prepare construction documents for mechanical in-house design/build projects; including Conceptual Design; SD; DD and CD Phases of a project, in collaboration with MTech’s PreConstruction and CAD Operations teams.
  • Assist the PreConstruction team with project pursuits, in the form of conceptual designs, one-lines, preliminary system selections and high-level energy analysis, code reviews, and support and attendance at project interviews.
  • Perform final check of all work issued to ensure high quality, seal and sign documents as required.
  • Take a lead role in the coordination with other trades on the project team; architects, general contractors, and other design disciplines; and ability to work collaboratively and present solutions
  • Evaluate design parameters and system solutions for projects that respond to both the technical and budget requirements of the project.
  • Prepare heating, ventilating and cooling load calculations; mechanical system sizing and equipment selections, and develop a working knowledge of codes and reference standards.
  • Involvement in all facets of a project, from conceptual design, design engineering, LEED analysis and documentation, construction observation, trouble‑shooting, commissioning support, to project close-out.
  • Establish and manage engineering design budgets with Project Managers and PreConstruction teams in house.
  • Conduct building surveys to ascertain the installed condition as required for the design and construction of new work in existing buildings.
  • Works with other departments to provide technical expertise in a support role.
  • Acts as a technical leader for other engineers and designers within the department.
  • Attend meetings and participate in activities of local professional organizations such as ASHRAE and ASPE.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at different levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment or independently, flexibility to adapt to changing needs/situations.
