VantagePoint Alliance LLC seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design mechanical systems for power generation, distributed energy, and industrial facilities in Utah. You will develop design packages, perform calculations, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams through concept to startup.

The role requires 7+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and ability to travel to project sites. PE is preferred but not required; AutoCAD and MS Project are used regularly.

Qualifications

• Typically 7+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for power generation, distributed energy or industrial facilities preferred.

Responsabilités

• Develop mechanical engineering design packages for power/industrial projects.
• Translate conceptual requirements into detailed mechanical designs.
• Prepare and review P&IDs and equipment specifications.
• Perform pressure drop, flow, heat transfer analyses and temperature studies.

Position Summary

VantagePoint Alliance (VPA) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the design and execution of mechanical systems for power generation, distributed energy, and industrial infrastructure projects. This role contributes across the full project lifecycle—from conceptual engineering and proposal development through detailed design, installation, commissioning, and startup support. The Mechanical Engineer will develop mechanical design packages, perform engineering calculations, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contractual specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical engineering design packages supporting power generation and industrial facility projects
• Translate conceptual engineering requirements into detailed mechanical system designs
• Support proposal and sales phases through preparation of conceptual layouts and technical documentation
• Prepare and review:Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Equipment layoutsMechanical system specificationsVendor technical documentation
• Perform engineering calculations including:Pressure drop analysisFlow calculationsHeat transfer analysisTemperature studies
• Support sizing and integration of:Heat recovery systemsAbsorption chillersCooling systemsFuel gas systemsBalance-of-plant mechanical equipment
• Coordinate closely with electrical, controls, and commissioning teams
• Support project managers during installation, commissioning, and testing phases
• Participate in HAZOP reviews and risk assessments
• Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
• Conduct site visits, walkdowns, and field surveys as required
• Ensure compliance with project safety, environmental, and quality procedures

Technical Qualifications

• Experience developing mechanical designs for industrial facilities or distributed energy systems
• Strong working knowledge of: Fluid systems Thermal systems Heat recovery equipment Gas handling systems Balance-of-plant equipment
• Experience preparing P&IDs and equipment specifications
• Familiarity with applicable engineering codes and standards
• Proficiency with: AutoCAD (or equivalent) Microsoft Office Microsoft Project (preferred)

Preferred Industry Experience

• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: Reciprocating engine power plants
• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: CHP / cogeneration facilities
• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) systems
• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: Microgrid installations
• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: Industrial utilities infrastructure
• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: Energy transition projects
• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: Balance-of-plant mechanical system integration
• Experience supporting one or more of the following environments: EPC execution environments

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• Typically 7+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience
• Experience supporting 1–25 MW distributed generation or industrial energy projects preferred
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required

Travel Expectations
