Job summary

Weston Mills is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and support custom automation equipment in Weston Mills, NY. You will work with mechanical and electrical engineers to bring projects from concept through commissioning using SolidWorks and practical manufacturing knowledge.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of SolidWorks design experience in automation, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Qualifications

• B.S. or A.A.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics Technology.
• 5+ years of SolidWorks design experience in mechanical/automation environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Preferred: Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for component and assembly validation.

Responsibilities

• Design and model mechanical systems, tooling, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on concept development, design reviews, and machine integration.
• Support projects from design through build and commissioning, ensuring quality and functionality.
• Create detailed drawings, BOMs, and documentation to support manufacturing.
