Job summary

DB Engineering Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 5–15 years of experience to tackle challenging building infrastructure projects. You will lead HVAC and building automation initiatives, analyze system performance, and guide cross-disciplinary teams to deliver efficient, sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • 5–15 years of mechanical engineering experience in building infrastructure.
  • Proven HVAC systems and building automation experience.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-relations abilities.
  • Mentorship and leadership capabilities; data analytics skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with large commercial HVAC systems, chillers, DX, AHUs, VAVs.
  • Analyze building systems operation and design with analytics.
  • Stay current with industry codes and best practices.
  • Review designs to improve efficiency, sustainability, cost.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, provide technical solutions.
  • Act as primary client contact and communicate updates.
  • Collect and analyze building data for operation improvements.
  • Own project scope and supervise junior engineers.
  • Anticipate client needs and mitigate risks; address blockers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • 5 – 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in building infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience with HVAC systems and building automation systems.
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities.
  • Preferred - Strong proficiency in data analytics and data visualization tools.
Responsibilities:
  • Experience with large commercial HVAC systems including chiller plants, DX and chilled water air handling systems, fan coils, VAV units and other HVAC equipment commonly used in commercial office buildings and data centers.
  • Leverage HVAC mechanical engineering and building automation experience to analyze building system operation and design.
  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
  • Review and evaluate mechanical system designs, offering expert insights and recommendations to enhance system efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, weaving a wide array of stakeholders’ requests, concerns, and needs into an actionable plan.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their needs, providing technical solutions, and delivering exceptional services.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, concerns, and project updates.
  • Collect, process, and analyze data from building systems to identify opportunities for operation improvements.
  • Take ownership of relevant project scope – participate in gameplan/backlog development with the appropriate client stakeholders, adapt when needed, and oversee junior engineers completing scope work.
  • Proactively anticipate client needs and demonstrate a solution-oriented approach to challenging situations.
  • Proactively identify risks, blockers, and mitigation strategies and work with stakeholders to resolve.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $140,000 DOE
  • DB provides our employees with medical, dental, and vision insurance with premiums covered at 100% for employees, 50% for dependents
  • PPO and HSA options available for medical coverage; employer contribution for employees who select HSA medical coverage with valid HSA account
  • Our company 401(k)-retirement plan has up to a 4% employer match – all full-time employees are eligible after 6 months

  • We offer a flexible vacation policy. Our employees do not accrue vacation but are given the flexibility to take time off as needed.
  • Sick Leave is accrued at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked
