Job summary

ESCO Lifesciences Group in Trevose, PA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to project success by designing equipment and managing projects to deliver compliant, high-quality systems on schedule.

You will work with suppliers, perform concept and manufacturing drawings, BOMs, P&ID interpretation, and documentation; occasional travel to international sites may be required, and collaboration across production, R&D, quality assurance, and management.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• OEM experience designing equipment/systems.
• Proficient with 3D design (SolidWorks).
• Experience producing 2D manufacturing drawings.
• BOM generation.
• P&ID and pneumatic schematic interpretation.
• Technical writing for O&M manuals and specs.

Responsibilities

• Work with suppliers, contractors, and clients to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Manage project schedules and coordinate with internal teams to meet deadlines.
• Create concept drawings and 3D models, 2D drawings, and P&ID to meet specifications.
• Prepare design specifications, manuals, and validation documents.
• Oversee assembly, testing, and handover; travel as needed.

We are searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the ESCO Technologies team. This individual is responsible for contributing to the success of projects through equipment mechanical design in order to result in a compliant, well-functioning, innovative, and on-time system to achieve customer satisfaction in line with Esco's business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with suppliers, contractors, and clients to ensure customer satisfaction. Maintaining the highest levels of business ethics is imperative. Clear, accurate transmittal of knowledge/data between clients, cross-functional teams, and management.
• Schedule Management – compilation and maintenance of project schedules, including regular communication with customers and internally to ensure transfer of status and schedule adherence. Management of own workload to achieve the overall schedule.
• Concept Drawings: Concept designs, including 3D model, General Arrangement drawing,s and P&ID to facilitate the transfer of information and required design intent against client or Esco-driven user requirement specifications. Review with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with specifications and feasibility of design. Sourcing of custom and standard components, prototyping, and conducting ergonomic trials to ensure equipment suitability for their process.
• Manufacturing Drawings: Generation of 2D drawings to be issued to production. To include sheet metal bending drawings, welding drawings, and assembly instruction guides.
• Documentation: Preparation of Design & Functional Specifications, O&M Manuals, Technical Files, works instructions, and validation documentation. Hand over the documentation pack and presentation to production to allow sufficient transfer of data and knowledge for the manufacture and assembly of the new product.
• Budgets: Awareness and tracking to adhere to budgets and compliance through value-engineered designs, sourcing of parts, specification adherence, schedule, time management, and planning.
• Assembly / Testing: Mainly a transfer of knowledge to the production team on how to assemble and test; however, hands‑on assistance should be capable as required in the assembly and testing of equipment, including validation of equipment with the customer.
• Site Visits: Site surveys of installation requirements, access, and highlighting of design restrictions. Produce meeting minutes and schedule / delegate actions accordingly.
• Occasional travel is possible to Singapore & Indonesia to facilitate the transfer of developed design into production and handover to the local team.
• A detailed, comprehensive design and supporting documentation are critical to this handover. Also,the domestic and American regions travel as the position progresses.

Job Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience In Mechanical Design Of Systems, Including

• OEM experience designing equipment/systems.
• 3D Design utilizing SolidWorks.
• 2D manufacturing drawings.
• BOM generation.
• P&ID & pneumatic schematic diagram interpretation.
• Support Technical writing as required (O&M Manual, Technical File, Assembly Instructions, Design & Functional.

Specifications

• General testing knowledge of Isolator systems.
• General knowledge of industry guidelines & regulations.
• Proficient verbal and written ability in the English language.
