Job summary

Kikkoman is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead process engineering projects aimed at improving production efficiency. The role involves planning process automation, designing material transfer systems, and producing AutoCAD diagrams to reflect plant organization and piping layouts.

The candidate will also oversee mechanical contractors, size steam, air and water systems, and participate in special projects from the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Industrial project management experience in production environments.
• AutoCAD or 3D modeling software experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete process engineering projects to improve production efficiency.
• Plan process automation projects including cost estimation.
• Design and customize material transfer systems to optimize space.
• Produce and update AutoCAD diagrams of production processes, piping systems and plant layout.
• Oversee mechanical contractors ensuring projects meet specifications on time and within budget.
• Design steam, air and water systems with flow calculations for valves and pumps.
• Assist with special projects assigned by Engineering Manager.

Summary: The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor. This role is responsible for completing process engineering projects to improve production efficiency, planning process automation, customizing material transfer systems, and producing AutoCAD diagrams. Additionally, they oversee mechanical contractors and design utility systems while executing special projects assigned by the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.Duties and Responsibilities:Complete process engineering projects throughout plant with an emphasis on production efficiency improvement.Recommend and plan process automation projects including cost estimation.Design and customize material transfer systems to improve use of space throughout the plant.Recommend plant layout changes for efficiency improvement and compliance with industry standards for food safety.Produce and update AutoCAD diagrams of production processes, piping systems and overall plant organization.Design and customize steam, air and water systems performing flow calculations to size valves and pumps.Oversee the efforts of mechanical contractors completing projects throughout the plant.Work with contractors to ensure that projects are completed within specifications on time within budget.Complete special projects assigned by Engineering Manager.Education & Training:Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years.Skills & Abilities:Industrial project management with an emphasis on production process engineering.Proficient with AutoCAD or any other 3D model Software.Food industry experience is preferred but not required.Physical & Behavioral:Regularly required to sit for long periods of time doing office tasks on a computerFrequently is required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hearOccasionally required to reach above shoulders, climb, work at heights, crouch, stoop or kneelOccasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds usually from floor to waist level, up to 20 feet awayAbility to work under conditions of high temperature and high humidity for extended periods of timeKikkoman expects all employees to behave and communicate in a manner which will facilitate good relations with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors; maintaining a positive work atmosphere
