Job summary

Design Engineers in Cedar Rapids, IA and Madison, WI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to investigation, design, and construction of building HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You will lead mechanical systems design, coordinate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams, perform HVAC load and sizing calculations, and guide designers and BIM technicians to produce drawings.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as mechanical engineer in building system design.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings with clients to establish needs and discuss design issues.
• Lead mechanical systems design including fire suppression, plumbing and HVAC.
• Perform calculations for HVAC loads, duct sizing, pipe sizing, ventilation requirements, etc.
• Provide direction to designers and BIM technicians for preparation of drawings detailing the design.
• Coordinate work with Clients and design team members of other disciplines.
• Create/prepare reports.

Position Type: In-Person/ Full-Time

Position: Mechanical Engineer position involved with the investigation, design, and construction of building heating, ventilating, air-conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.
• Lead mechanical systems design including fire suppression, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Perform and/or direct calculations for HVAC loads, duct sizing, pipe sizing, ventilation requirements, etc.
• Provide direction to designers and BIM technicians for preparation of drawings detailing the design.
• Coordinate work with Clients and design team members of other disciplines.
• Create/prepare reports.
