Job summary

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 2+ years of engineering-related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret Level). (US ONLY).
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software; familiarity with DraftSight or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM, Flow Simulation, and Simulation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STDs, VITA Standards, and NASA Standards preferred.
  • Experience supporting root cause analysis and engineering problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.

Responsibilities

  • Design robust mechanical modules and subsystems for mixed signal RF and digital electronics using 3D CAD software.
  • Develop rugged hardware such as heat sinks and enclosures for VPX modules per VITA standards and environmental specs.
  • Perform CFD analysis to simulate thermal performance and meet thermal requirements.
  • Conduct FEA to evaluate frequency, structural, and static responses for stress and fatigue life.
  • Create fabrication drawings with GD&T.
  • Produce BOMs, assembly instructions, and test reports for designs.
  • Assist in data packages and contract deliverable reports.
  • Support Engineering requests from Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality.
  • Collaborate with Systems, PCB, and RF engineers across product lifecycles.
  • Assist in evaluating customer proposals and refining requirements for implementation.

Summary

Compensation Range: The expected compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000.00 annually.

Job Functions
  • Design robust mechanical modules and subsystems incorporating mixed signal RF and digital electronics using 3D CAD software.
  • Develop rugged mechanical hardware such as heat sinks and enclosures for 3U and 6U VPX modules that comply with VITA standards and environmental specifications.
  • Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to simulate thermal performance of designs to ensure compliance with thermal requirements.
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) to perform frequency, structural, and static studies on modules and subsystems to determine resonant frequencies, stress, strain, and fatigue life.
  • Generate detailed fabrication drawings incorporating geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Create thorough assembly instructions, bill of materials (BOMs), and test reports for designs.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of data packages and contract deliverable reports.
  • Support engineering requests from various functional areas, including Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality.
  • Collaborate with systems, PCB layout, and RF engineers in cross-functional teams throughout product development lifecycles.
  • Support the evaluation of customer proposals, assess mechanical design feasibility, and help refine requirements for successful implementation.
Skills/Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience performing engineering-related duties.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
