Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 3 to 7 years of consulting engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years designing institutional building systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and institutional building mechanical systems.
  • Experience helping Lead mechanical engineering design projects through multiple phases of development.
  • Knowledge of applicable national codes and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
  • PE licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for institutional facilities including healthcare, K-12, higher education, and government projects.
  • Lead mechanical engineering design efforts from schematic development through construction administration.
  • Complete project drawings and design documentation using Revit and CAD platforms.
  • Perform engineering calculations, equipment selection, specifications development, and site observations.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Interface directly with clients, end users, contractors, and project stakeholders to document project requirements.
  • Collaborate with principals and leadership teams across Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming.
  • Lead mechanical engineering design coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support business development through proposals, presentations, and client relationship management.
  • Help pursue new institutional opportunities and support growth initiatives.
  • Lead design reviews to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Provide construction administration support including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field coordination.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers as the Salt Lake City team expands.
  • Ensure compliance with national codes and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to office leadership initiatives and staffing growth plans.
  • Lead design solutions that improve performance, energy efficiency, and maintainability.

Are you ready to Lead mechanical engineering design on meaningful institutional projects while helping build a growing office? This Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer opportunity offers the chance to take ownership of projects, influence office growth, and work directly alongside firm leadership.

Based in Salt Lake City with hybrid flexibility, this role is ideal for an engineer with 3 to 7 years of consulting engineering experience who wants to Lead mechanical engineering design from concept through construction. The successful candidate will work on healthcare, K-12, higher education, and government facilities while playing a key role in the continued expansion of the Salt Lake City office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering design for institutional facilities including healthcare, K-12, higher education, and government projects.
  • Lead mechanical engineering design efforts from schematic development through construction administration.
  • Complete project drawings and design documentation using Revit and CAD platforms.
  • Perform engineering calculations, equipment selection, specifications development, and site observations.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 3 to 7 years of consulting engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years designing institutional building systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and institutional building mechanical systems.
  • Experience helping Lead mechanical engineering design projects through multiple phases of development.
  • Knowledge of applicable national codes and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing PE licensure.
  • Proficiency with Revit.
  • Previous experience supporting business development and proposal activities.
  • Demonstrated desire to Lead mechanical engineering design teams and project initiatives.
  • Interest in office leadership and long-term career growth.
