Job summary

Verto People Ltd in Pflugerville, TX, seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support complex manufacturing projects from concept through final delivery. You will work close with machinists, fabricators, welders and quality teams to solve problems and improve production.

Design components using SolidWorks, optimize designs for manufacturability, develop manufacturing plans, define inspection and quality documents, and coordinate with purchasing and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong mechanical design skills with proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Experience with CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, assembly and wider manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing principles.
• Ability to design tooling, fixtures and manufacturing processes.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components, weldments, assemblies, tooling, fixtures and complete systems using SolidWorks.
• Review and optimize customer designs for manufacturability, quality, cost, schedule and reliability.
• Develop manufacturing plans, routings, work instructions and production documentation.
• Define manufacturing sequences, workflows, inspection plans and quality documentation requirements.
• Work directly with machinists, fabricators, welders, inspectors and assemblers to support production and resolve technical issues.
• Support first-article inspections, in-process inspections, final inspections and customer acceptance activities.
• Serve as the technical lead on complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and automated assembly projects.
• Coordinate engineering activity with purchasing, manufacturing, quality, suppliers and customers to support project delivery.
