PCE, Inc in Lincoln, Nebraska, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop new products and materials, perform performance testing, and provide technical support to customers and the organization.

You will lead design projects from concept through manufacturing turnover, coordinate prototype runs, manage timelines, and write technical documents to support sales and publications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1–3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Skills in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Knowledge in injection mold tooling/automation equipment is preferred.
  • Standard business computer skills including spreadsheets and basic statistical software.
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Select materials to meet mechanical and environmental requirements while being cost effective.
  • Ensure designs implement advanced technologies while meeting manufacturing, cost, and timing goals.
  • Work directly with customers, sales managers, project managers, and internal teams to identify requirements and meet design and performance goals.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines to ensure key deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate prototype and pilot production runs to mature the design for finished material.
  • Coordinate project activities to ensure smooth release into manufacturing.
  • Perform risk assessment tests and use results to improve design and reduce risks.
  • Drive and lead the launch of new programs with global facilities.
  • Lead new product development projects from concept through turnover to manufacturing.
  • Establish project plans and milestones at project inception and track progress.
  • Submit monthly project status reports.
  • Write technical documents for sales training or publications.
  • Maintain leading-edge proficiency in metals, corrosion, polymers, and materials characterization.
  • Collaborate with other departments to obtain samples and test data for catalogs and literature.
  • Adhere to quality and safety systems and standards.

Mechanical Engineer

Full Time Professional Lincoln, NE, US

SUMMARY: Develop new products and materials that support current product lines or helps to establish new product lines. Perform performance characteristic testing of new and existing products. Provide technical assistance to customers and the organization. Responsible for producing new part design samples in a timely and efficient manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Select materials to meet mechanical and environmental requirements while being the most cost effective solution.
  • Ensure designs implement advanced technologies while meeting manufacturing, cost, and timing goals.
  • Work directly with customers, sales managers, project managers, and internal teams to identify customer requirements, establish design expectations, and meet agreed upon design, performance, and goals for projects.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines to ensure all key deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate all activities to accomplish prototype and pilot production runs to mature the design of components and assemblies and meet customer needs for finished material.
  • Coordinate all project activities to ensure smooth release of products into manufacturing meeting customer requirements and established timelines.
  • Perform risk assessment tests and use results to improve design and reduce risks before reaching manufacturing
  • Drive and lead the launch of new programs with the various affected global manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead new product development projects from concept through preparation of turnover tomanufacturing,
  • Establish project plans and milestone charts at the inception of new projects, then track and report on progress.
  • Submit monthly project status reports.
  • Write technical documents on significant findings that can be used as a sales training aid, help promote new products or be published in technical journals.
  • Maintain leading-edge technical proficiency in the areas of metals, corrosion, polymers, and materials characterization techniques by staying abreast of new trends and scientific developments in these fields.
  • Work with other departments in obtaining samples and test data. Provide other departments with information needed to prepare catalogs and other sales literature.
  • Adheres to quality and safety systems and maintenance of quality and safety standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Skills in Solidworks or similar CAD software.
  • Knowledge in i njection mold tooling/automation equipment is preferred
  • Standard business computer skills to include experience with spreadsheets and basic statistical software.
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in MechanicalEngineering or equivalent
  • 1-3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
