Job summary

AHF Products in Lancaster, PA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide day-to-day technical support of operations, support maintenance and engineering teams, and lead engineering projects with accountability for safety, schedule, cost and performance.

This position reports to the Principal Engineer and requires hands-on problem solving, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize reliability and production uptime.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with capital improvement projects and reliability.
  • Lean Six Sigma background with emphasis on root cause analysis.
  • AutoCAD experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test the manufacture and installation of mechanical equipment, components and systems.
  • Identify, develop, and execute projects to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead efforts to improve system reliability such that production output is maximized.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement solutions to downtime situations based on analysis of manpower/equipment/reliability.
  • Prepare drawings to support engineering specifications.
  • Lead and support root cause analysis on equipment failure methods.
  • Focus on process improvement, daily process support, cost reduction activities, and project management.
  • Use Lean and Six Sigma fundamentals to troubleshoot processing issues with the operations team.
  • Participate in incident investigations and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and customer requirements, including OSHA guidelines.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

AHF Products has a great career opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to be located at the Lancaster Floor Plant in Lancaster, PA. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing day to day technical support of operations, supporting the maintenance and engineering teams to understand and prevent equipment failures, and leadership of engineering projects with accountability for safety, schedule, cost, and performance. This position reports to the Principal Engineer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Design, develop and test the manufacture and installation of Mechanical equipment, components and systems
  • Identify, develop, and execute projects to drive continuous improvement
  • Leads efforts to improve system reliability such that production output is maximized
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements solutions to downtime situations based on analysis of the manpower/equipment/reliability required to resolve
  • Applies working knowledge of materials and components
  • Prepares drawing(s) to support engineering specifications
  • Lead and support root cause analysis on equipment failure methods
  • Focus on process improvement work, daily process support, cost reduction activities, and project management
  • Using Lean and Six sigma fundamentals, collaborate with the operations team to troubleshoot any processing issues that may arise during normal day-to-day operations
  • Actively participate in incident investigations and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with all standards and customer requirements, including OSHA Guidelines
  • Schedule flexibility needed with occasional weekends and holidays for project work
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering degree
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including: collaborating with maintenance/production/technical personnel to drive reliability and directly supporting day-to-day operations
  • Background in managing capital improvement projects
  • Personal experience in Lean and Six Sigma fundamentals with an emphasis on root cause analysis
  • AutoCAD experience desired
