Job summary

AtWork Group in Kalamazoo, MI seeks a Mechanical Engineer to analyze thermal, structural and fluid flow problems in chillers and related products using FEA/CFD, 3D CAD, and modeling tools.

You will develop analytical models, support R&D IP analysis, collaborate with global engineering teams to adopt new technologies, lead design decisions, and assist manufacturing process development.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering required.
• Thermal sciences focus preferred.
• Experience with commercial FEA/CFD software.
• Experience with Mathcad, MATLAB or similar for modeling thermal systems.
• Experience with 3D CAD design software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Proficiency in project management.
• Knowledge of heat transfer and stress analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lead a team and provide design direction.
• Creative problem solving approach.

Responsibilities

• Use FEA/CFD or other analysis software to analyze thermal, structural and fluid flow problems relating to design and optimization of chillers and associated products.
• Develop analytical and numerical models of thermal and related systems that include properties of devices and materials and other factors that influence performance.
• Assist R&D manager with IP analysis.
• Work with global engineering teams to rapidly advance integration of new technologies in design.
• Identify and select suppliers for new product designs capable of higher performance.
• Run simulations to analyze and optimize design configurations for various cooling applications.
• Interpret experimental model results to optimize design parameters.
• Correlate simulation with experimental results.
• Support manufacturing process development activities.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.

Requirements
