Job summary

CT19 seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer (ASME Tank & Piping) to own auxiliary mechanical systems from design through installation, testing and commissioning on complex projects in the United States.

You will lead engineering deliverables for demineralised water and compressed oxygen systems, ensuring code compliance and quality, while supporting procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code.
  • Experience with ASME tank design and piping systems.
  • Understanding of structural design principles for seismic loading.
  • Experience supporting active construction projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering quality systems and incoming inspection of bespoke equipment.
  • Experience working within a nuclear or similarly regulated quality environment.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as SolidWorks and AutoPipe.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering deliverables and provide regular progress updates to Project Controls.
  • Prepare and issue design documentation, including specifications, calculations, drawings, reports, test plans and quality documentation.
  • Develop and review design packages for systems including Chemical Reagent Systems, Building HVAC, Radiological HVAC.
  • Coordinate technical reviews with internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Procurement to support vendor selection, design reviews and fabrication activities.
  • Review and approve vendor documentation for owner acceptance.
  • Support FAT and SAT testing.
  • Prepare and review equipment test procedures.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, resolving field queries and technical issues.
  • Conduct site inspections and walk-downs of installed equipment.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineering teams to ensure successful system handover and knowledge transfer.

Mechanical Engineer – ASME Tank & Piping

Location: United States

Employment Type: Full-Time

An innovative engineering organisation operating in a highly regulated, advanced technology environment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (ASME Tank & Piping) to join its Auxiliary Systems Engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior mechanical engineer to take ownership of critical plant systems from design through installation, testing and commissioning, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering, procurement and construction teams on complex industrial projects.

The Role

As the Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering ownership of a range of auxiliary mechanical systems, including:

  • Demineralised water systems
  • Compressed oxygen systems

You will oversee the engineering lifecycle of these systems, ensuring designs meet applicable codes and quality requirements while supporting procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in industrial process piping and mechanical systems, ideally gained within highly regulated industries such as nuclear, energy, pharmaceuticals or other complex process environments.

  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code.
  • Experience with ASME tank design and piping systems.
  • Understanding of structural design principles for seismic loading.
  • Experience supporting active construction projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering quality systems and incoming inspection of bespoke equipment.
  • Experience working within a nuclear or similarly regulated quality environment.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as:
  • SolidWorks
  • AutoPipe
Technical Expertise

Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Piping design and stress analysis
  • ASME pressure vessel and tank design
  • Filtration systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Valve specification
  • Instrument selection for fluid systems

Experience with fire protection systems, including familiarity with NFPA 801, would be advantageous.
