Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical/Chemical Engineer to lead the design and development of a waste disposal facility within an existing building shell. This role requires strong technical expertise, environmental compliance knowledge, and the ability to act as a liaison between the U.S. Navy and multiple vendors.

Location

Location: Indian Head, Maryland (On-site 1 day per week)

Base pay range

$68.00/hr - $75.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Design & Development
  • Plan and design a waste disposal facility within an existing building structure.
  • Ensure compliance with Tier 12 construction standards and environmental safety regulations.
  • Implement combustion-based disposal methods for hazardous materials.
  • Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Navy and vendors.
  • Coordinate technical requirements, timelines, and compliance standards across all parties.
  • Technical Oversight
  • Review and approve industrial equipment designs and process layouts.
  • Provide guidance on environmental safety and waste management best practices.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chemical Engineering experience is a plus)
  • Experience: 5+ years in chemical engineering
  • Proven experience designing waste material processing facilities
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment design review
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of environmental safety principles
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and communicate technical requirements effectively
