Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical/Chemical Engineer to lead the design and development of a waste disposal facility within an existing building shell. This role requires strong technical expertise, environmental compliance knowledge, and the ability to act as a liaison between the U.S. Navy and multiple vendors.

Location: Indian Head, Maryland (On-site 1 day per week)
Base pay range
$68.00/hr - $75.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Design & Development
- Plan and design a waste disposal facility within an existing building structure.
- Ensure compliance with Tier 12 construction standards and environmental safety regulations.
- Implement combustion-based disposal methods for hazardous materials.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the Navy and vendors.
- Coordinate technical requirements, timelines, and compliance standards across all parties.
- Technical Oversight
- Review and approve industrial equipment designs and process layouts.
- Provide guidance on environmental safety and waste management best practices.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chemical Engineering experience is a plus)
- Experience: 5+ years in chemical engineering
- Proven experience designing waste material processing facilities
- Familiarity with industrial equipment design review
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of environmental safety principles
- Ability to manage vendor relationships and communicate technical requirements effectively
- Knowledge of combustion-based disposal processes
