Job summary

Oceaneering hires a Mechanical Engineer to assist with small to mid-size projects, delivering design specs, procedures, BOMs and drawings. You will read customer specs, perform design calculations, and coordinate with offshore teams to ensure quality deliverables on time.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 0–2 years of related experience, and familiarity with FEA, GD&T, and SolidWorks. The position is onsite in Houston, TX, with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • 0 to 2 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of traditional stress analysis techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T and Tolerance stack-up.
  • General understanding of FEA.
  • Competent in related MS Office suite.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, and Mathcad.

Responsibilities

  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical challenges.
  • Read and interpret customer and industry specifications to meet requirements.
  • Provide customer-specific designs based on standard products.
  • Create part numbers and bills of materials in an ERP system.
  • Create manufacturing drawings for machined, forged or cast parts.
  • Create standard engineering specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Check drawings, specifications, procedures, and bills of material.
  • Perform design calculations.
  • Review finite element analysis results/reports.
  • Identify material and coating solutions.
  • Coordinate with offshore design office for their work assignments.
  • Support product testing on an as needed basis.
  • Assist in preparation of technical procedures (FAT, Load test procedure, etc).
  • Interface with customers to understand requirements and discuss options.
  • Assist with planned/unplanned activities to ensure smooth operations.

Location
  • Requires daily onsite attendance; this is not a remote-work position.
Essential
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical challenges
  • Read and interpret customer and industry (ASME, API, NACE etc) specifications and provide technical information to meet the customer's requirements and Company commitments
  • Provide customer-specific designs based on standard products
  • Create part numbers and bills of materials in an ERP system
  • Create manufacturing drawings for machined, forged or cast parts
  • Create standard engineering specifications, procedures, and reports
  • Check drawings, specifications, procedures, and bills of material
  • Perform design calculations

Qualifications
Required

Required

This position is considered mainly office work but with a requirement to work in shop floor or other environments from time to time as/when required which is characterized as follows:

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
