Job summary

Oceaneering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to apply fundamentals across engineering and design activities under a Project Manager. The role supports manufacturing, integration, and test, with maritime and subsea experience highly desired.

Responsibilities include CAD direction, design optimization for production, test procedure development, data evaluation, and management reporting. Travel may be required; competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Ocean Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of practical experience in mechanical/ocean engineering.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, MATLAB, and MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and related fields.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fundamental engineering analysis such as structural dynamics and thermodynamics.
  • Direct designers to create CAD solid models and drawings for fabrication.
  • Recommend design approaches to meet production requirements.
  • Write test procedures, conduct tests, and evaluate data.
  • Prepare reports and present results to management.
  • Provide support to bid and proposal efforts as needed.
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.

Job description

Purpose

The Mechanical Engineer-I applies a working knowledge of engineering fundamentals to the division’s engineering and design activities under the direction of a Project Manager. The Mechanical Engineer interacts with all OTECH departments as necessary to provide engineering support to OTECH manufacturing, integration, and test activities. Academic studies and/or experience in maritime and/or subsea engineering is highly desired.

  • Provide support to bid and proposal efforts as needed.
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Ocean Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of practical experience in mechanical/ocean engineering.
  • Proficiency in the application of current engineering software (i.e. SolidWorks, Matlab, etc).
  • Able to apply a working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of mechanical engineering and an understanding of related engineering fields.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Desired
  • Communication, organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Hands-on abilities for assembling mechanical components.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.

The annual salary range for this position is $69,100 - $103,700
