Job summary

CITEL is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team at its Hillsborough, NC facility. This senior, individual-contributor role emphasizes hands-on design and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, testing, and global R&D teams.

You will mentor engineers, influence architecture and processes, and support the US R&D organization’s growth while maintaining engineering documentation and design integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in electromechanical or enclosure design.
• Experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Experience designing mechanical enclosures or electromechanical assemblies.
• Familiarity with cable routing and cable assembly documentation.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for electrical products.
• Create and maintain 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop designs for wire routing, cable assemblies, and internal mechanical layouts.
• Support prototype development, testing, and product validation.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper mechanical integration of electronic components.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to support design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation.
• Support product improvements and engineering changes as required.

CITEL is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to add to our growing R&D team at its new Hillsborough, NC facility.

This role will play a key part in hands-on design work as well as cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, testing, and global R&D teams. This is a senior, individual-contributor role with opportunities to influence architecture, process and technical direction as the US R&D organization continues to grow. The successful candidate will also be expected to be a strong mentor within the engineering group.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for electrical products
