Job summary

Crown Technical Systems in Fontana, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the mechanical design, development, and calculations of power distribution products including relay panels and switchgear.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will create 2D and 3D fabrication drawings using SolidWorks, support production, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design for excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Proficient in SolidWorks to create 2D and 3D fabrication and assembly drawings with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with out-of-the-box thinking.
• Familiar with parametric design procedures (knowledge of VBA).
• General understanding of mechanical and structural FEA.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent budgeting and cost containment skills.

• Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate in team environments.

To support our extraordinary team who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer located in Fontana, CA.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design, development, and calculations of assigned manufacturing projects related to power distribution products including relay panels, control buildings, and switchgear (low and medium voltage).

What a typical day looks like:

• Participates in the development, engineering, design, and drafting of manufacturing projects related to control buildings, relay panels, and switchgear.
• Assist in generating mechanical 2D and 3D fabrication and assembly drawings (example: enclosures, cabinets, panels, etc.)
• Create bill of materials for assigned projects.
• Coordinate with customers regarding specification/design questions and clarifications.
• Work with purchasing department and vendors to receive quotes and lead times to complete design.
• Provide engineering support to production departments during all stages of manufacturing.
• Develops an understanding of design for excellence philosophy.
• Provide suggestions on areas of improvement to standardize and increase the efficiency surrounding production.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• At least 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Proficient in the use of SolidWorks to create 2D and 3D fabrication and assembly drawings, with no or minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to provide out-of-the-box solutions.
• Familiar with parametric design procedures (knowledge of VBA)
• General understanding in mechanical and structural FEA
