Job summary

Crown Technical Systems in Dallas, TX is seeking an Engineering Technician to support hardware and software testing within manufacturing operations. You will work under the Process Engineering Manager, performing complex tests, collecting data, and implementing improvements to meet specifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years' experience in technical work, trade, or engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite to prepare test reports.
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex engineering tests, checkouts, and development tasks.
  • Analyze test results and implement design changes to resolve issues.
  • Collect data, analyze results and implement procedures.
  • Review project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications and objectives.
  • Devises, fabricates and assembles new or modified components for products.
  • Set up and conduct tests of units and components under operating conditions.
  • Analyze test results and modify equipment to meet specifications.
  • Record test procedures, results and recommendations for changes.
  • Maintain software, documentation and equipment to latest revision.
  • Assist engineers in developing hardware and software required to test customer products.
  • Train technicians and operators on products, processes and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Engineering Technician located in Dallas, Texas.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technician will support engineering services activities such as hardware and software design and development within the manufacturing operations alongside industrial and process engineers.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

What a typical day looks like:
  • Performs complex engineering tests, checkouts, and development engineering tasks
  • Analyzes engineering test results and implements changes to resolve problems
  • Collects data, analyzes results and implements procedures
  • Reviews project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies
  • Devises, fabricates and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, server systems, machine tools and measuring instruments
  • Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design, or to obtain data for development, standardization, quality control and problem resolution
  • Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications
  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method
  • Maintains software, documentation and equipment to the latest revision or operational specifications
  • Assists engineers in developing and designing hardware and software required to test customer products per their specifications
  • Trains technicians and operators on products, processes and equipment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in related field preferred
  • 2+ years' experience in technical work, trade work or engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare test reports and proposals
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
  • Must wear PPE, such as gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear protection, while working on the production floor and at job sites
