Job summary

System One is seeking a Project Engineer in Finleyville, PA to support project management for commercial mechanical construction. This onsite role focuses on coordinating documentation, scheduling, cost tracking, submittals, and change orders to ensure projects meet scope, budget, and schedule.

You will monitor progress, safety, quality, and compliance, communicating across departments and with clients to drive successful project completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 0–2 years related experience.
• Ability to coordinate construction tasks and manage resources.
• Strong proficiency with MS Word and Excel and basic data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Assist project manager in evaluating proposals and plans for time frames, funding, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with Pre-Construction to set up projects and prepare cost breakdowns and values.
• Attend pre-construction and turnover meetings and distribute paperwork to the team.
• Devise project work plans with the PM, outlining duties, responsibilities, and authority.
• Support coordination of activities to ensure high quality work and on-time completion.
• Review status reports and adjust schedules and budgets as needed.
• Prepare project reports, submittals, and material/tool requisitions.
• Monitor labor reports, WIPs, safety, and compliance; resolve issues with teams.
• Assist with change orders, permit coordination, and cross-department communication.

Overview
System One is seeking a Project Engineer with commercial mechanical construction and plumbing experience to support Project Management by coordinating construction projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and according to project specifications. This role manages project documentation, scheduling, cost tracking, submittals, change orders, permits, and communication between project teams and departments. The position also helps monitor project progress, safety, quality, and compliance while assisting with problem-solving and successful project completion. Responsibilities

• Assist project manager in reviewing proposals and plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for project completion, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases.
• Works closely with Pre-Construction department in setting up the project.
• Prepares job cost breakdown sheets and schedule of values.
• Attends pre-construction meetings and distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel.
• Attends turnover meetings.
• Consults with project manager to devise project work plans, duties, responsibilities, and the overall scope of authority.
• Aids in the coordination and monitoring of activities being completed by project teams to ensure the overall quality of work.
• Reviews status reports from project teams and modifies schedules and budgets when required.
• Prepares project reports for supervisor.
• Prepares submittals, submittal status, release and delivery.
• Works with the PM to review labor reports and update monthly WIPs.
• Monitors and reviews equipment and tools on projects.
• May attend monthly project reviews with the appropriate personnel to ensure proper adjustments are being made to the WIPs and work is being completed smoothly.
• Works closely with Superintendents.
• Attends close out meetings with the appropriate personnel at the conclusion of assigned projects.
• Assists project teams and other Project Managers with problem resolution.
• Prepares and submits material, tool, equipment requisitions to proper departments.
• Attends project field meetings.
• Inspects all project work sites to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Works with project manager to formulate change orders and extra work orders when needed.
• Follow up on change order status.
• Coordinates and monitors all changes pertaining to the scope of work.
• Prepares and files all purchase orders.
• Aid in securing all permits, fees, licenses, etc.
• Helps to coordinate the planning of all fabrications needed for construction projects.
• Ensures excellent communication between all departments throughout the client facilities.
• Promotes excellent morale throughout all departments and divisions.
• Assists with enforcing all client rules and procedures such as accounting, administrative, safety, etc.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 0-2 years related experience.
• Organizational skills in order to coordinate tasks pertaining to construction projects.
• Ability to oversee projects and employees.
• Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Sufficient knowledge of mathematics including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute and interpret charts and graphs.
• Ability to schedule and prioritize all work assignments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse individuals.
• Ability to enforce and abide by all client rules and procedures.
• Excellent Knowledge of construction plans and specification.
