You will design, layout, and detail conveyor systems, support field installations, and travel to job sites in the USA, Canada, and Mexico to ensure customer requirements are met. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.
• 2 years of automotive conveyor work experience preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations for drives, shafts, cylinders, and bearings.
• Design and detail conveyor components in 2D and 3D using AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Prepare ABMs, Work Orders for shop and purchasing, respond to inquiries.
• Collaborate with project team to develop workable solutions to technical issues.
• Check drawings before sending to shop or sub-fabrication sources.
• Provide AutoCAD conveyor layouts to meet JPH requirements.
• Work with project manager and installation team on-site as required.
• Travel to jobsites in USA, Canada, and Mexico for meetings and field checks.

Job description

The Mechanical Engineer I will be responsible to execute all engineering and technical aspects of assigned projects under the supervision of the Project Engineer to assure the highest level of accuracy and quality. The Mechanical Engineer will work with the Project Engineer, project manager and superintendent to ensure all customer and field requirements are met. This position will be responsible for the conveyor engineering design, layout, and detailing requirements per the customer scope of work and Sylvan clarifications as indicated in the bid submittal. The Mechanical Engineer will also support onsite installation activities to ensure the system is installed per the design and to troubleshoot issues as they arise. Travel to jobsites to support installation and commissioning activities is required.

Job Responsibilities

• Be able to do perform engineering calculations of drives, shafts, cylinders, and bearings.
• Be able to design and detail conveyor components in 2D and 3D using AutoCAD and Inventor software packages.
• Be able to provide and create ABM's, Work Orders for the shop and purchasing as well as answer all questions from purchasing and the shop regarding the orders.
• Must be able work with the project team to create a working solution to technical issues in a timely manner.
• Be able to check drawings from other team members before sending to the shop or sub-fabrication source.
• Must be able to provide AutoCAD conveyor layouts to meet the customer JPH requirements.
• Work with the project manager and installation team on-site as required.
• Be able to travel to jobsites within the USA, Canada and Mexico for meetings, field checks, and site support as needed.
• Must be able to provide chain pulls on CP Plus with drive balancing and drive drop out capability based upon the customer requirements.
• Provide FMEA and FEA documentation to outside source per the customer requirements.
• Complete tasks within project schedule deadlines including working OT as required to meet dates.
• Maintain the knowledge of the latest specifications for the customer and keep up to date on the revisions as they are released from the customer.
• Be able to work with and monitor engineering sub-contractor selected for the project.
• Provide on-site installation and start-up assistance as required working with the project manager and superintendent to support field installations and troubleshoot issues as they occur.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 2 years automotive conveyor work experience.

Experience

• Possess excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor software packages.

• Able to identify scope of work changes and create detailed change order requests.
