Job summary

A nationally recognized engineering consulting firm in Rochester is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to collaborate with architects and building owners. You will be responsible for calculating heating and cooling loads, estimating energy use, laying out ductwork, and modeling HVAC systems. We're looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC experience, and strong communication skills. The position offers competitive pay, profit sharing, and flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program required.
• Experience in HVAC or plumbing design is necessary.
• Engineer in Training certification preferred, Professional Engineer certification a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

• Estimate energy use and savings with simulation programs.
• Lay out ductwork, piping, and equipment using AutoCAD.
• Model HVAC and plumbing systems in Revit.
• Survey buildings: take photos, measurements, assess equipment.
• Calculate pipe sizes for refrigeration systems; use Excel and other tools.
• Answer construction questions relevant to designs; meet utilities for connections.
• Perform energy code compliance calculations; model buildings for LEED Energy credits.

Overview

Erdman Anthony is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work with architects and building owners under the guidance of a Professional Engineer to translate owner needs into a building design that is buildable, cost-effective, and sustainable.

Responsibilities

• Calculate heating and cooling loads using Carrier HAP software to size equipment
• Estimate energy use and savings using EQuest and other simulation programs
• Lay out ductwork, piping and equipment using AutoCAD software
• Model building HVAC and plumbing systems using Autodesk Revit software
• Survey buildings: take photos, measurements, assess equipment
• Calculate pipe sizes for refrigeration systems using Excel and other tools
• Answer construction questions relevant to your designs
• Meet with utilities to work out building connections
• Perform energy code compliance calculations
• Model buildings for LEED Energy credits

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical Engineering from EAC/ABET certified school
