Job summary

US Tech Solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to provide detailed designs for handling and process equipment in a 12-month engagement in Corning, NY. The role includes hands-on support during installation, start-up, and debug of glass manufacturing equipment within a multi-disciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 7+ years of design experience, proficiency in SolidWorks, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with design, install, start-up and debug of robust mechanical equipment.

Job description

Duration: 12 months with possible extension

Description:

• A senior mechanical design engineer responsible for providing detailed mechanical designs of handling and process equipment.
• Responsible for all aspects of the design, build and debug of equipment including vendor management. hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up and debug glass manufacturing process equipment.
• This includes working with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.) Involves the application of mechanical principles encompassed in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design used for the design, production, operation, and use machinery of all types.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with internal project team to understand design requirements

• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams (skills, gender, culture, race, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of how to handle proprietary drawings/parts
• Knowledge of fundamental inventory control procedures
• Ability to work as team member and / or leader. Ability to work with engineering / technical customers and suppliers to achieve win-win outcomes
• Communicate effectively with internal customers and external suppliers
• Understand customer requirements and support the development of strategies to meet or exceed those expectations

Education:
