Mechanical Engineer Job Description

Screen Innovations, a designer and manufacturer of high-end custom specialty projection screens and window shading systems is seeking an experiencedMechanical Engineerwith Product Management experience to join our team. In this role, you will introduce and/or develop moderately complex mechanical solutions, test and validate, complete technology explorations and/or deliver to mass production.The Mechanical Engineer / Product Manager will have a range of opportunities for collaboration with internal teams, customers and supplier partners when designing and testing new products.If you are looking to design innovative, cutting-edge consumer electronics, Screen Innovations is the place to be.

Other essential functions include:

• Expertise in using CAD platforms to model complex parts
• Collaborate and add value through participation in design reviews, providing comments and recommendations on mechanical engineering designs
• Mockup, test basic mechanical systems to verify compliance with design requirements
• Interface with Electrical Engineers, Industrial Designers, Sales, Production and Suppliers to negotiate basic tradeoffs between manufacturing, appearance, and performance
• Make estimates on tooling, part cost and design time for basic mechanical designs
• Specify test plans to validate moderately complex systems
• Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using creativity and sound problem solving techniques

Requirements:

·Minimum 4 years modeling proficiency. Prefer Solid Works, but Inventor, Creo are a plus

·Medium to high volume consumer product design

·Worked on/with extrusions, molds, sheet metal, and/or electronic controls

·Willing, able to follow a product from "Napkin to Production"

·Hands-on mentality and work ethic making prototype pieces using various machine shop tools

·Able to interface with Customers, Suppliers and take feedback in a Beta-test scenario

·Proficient in Excel, with working knowledge of other common MS Office programs

Nice-to-haves:

·FEA Analysis and experience working with ID and design consultancy

The Product Manager is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle. This may include gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager ensures that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.

·Define the product strategy and roadmap

·Execute Product Requirements documents “PRD” with prioritized features and corresponding justification

·Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities

·Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples

·Be an expert with respect to the competition

·Act as a leader within the company, with strong collaboration within all internal teams

Requirements

·Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Production Manager, Engineer, or Product Manager

·Demonstrated success defining and launching new products

·2 years of experience in the Shade and Screen Industry is a plus

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills

·Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

·Must be able to travel 10% of the time
