ITW Hartness, a division of Illinois Tool Works, is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Technician - Field Support to join our Greenville, SC team. You will assemble equipment, read blueprints, and perform electrical/mechanical troubleshooting in a fast-paced production setting, with on-site work and travel to customer sites.

This role requires working safely, meeting production schedules, and traveling up to 20–25% with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years mechanical & electrical experience.
  • Strong work ethic and customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Summary:

ITW Hartness is looking for aMechanical/ElectricalTechnician - Field Supportwithstrongability to assemble, read blueprints, apply mechanical and electrical skills, and use basic hand tools in a production environment. You will need to work safely in a fast-paced team environment and meet the production schedule while producing quality work.The Field Support role is designed to build practical knowledge of Field Service activities and can be a pipeline for future Field Service opportunities. This role will work on site in our Greenville location as well as travel to customer sites for Field Support.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • You must be able to understand equipment assembly functions
  • Must be able to read and utilize calipers and a multimeter
  • Understanding of basic electricity and cable sizes
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, electrical symbols, and electrical schematics
  • Understand the inner working of pneumatic values
  • Ability to troubleshoot and find the root cause of issues as well as think logically about solutions
  • Aptitude with machine diagnostics, functionality, and equipment testing
  • Critical thinking skills to diagnose problems and repair issues in an effective manner
  • Multitasking capability with ability to identify and execute priority tasks
  • Ability to utilize an array of electrical tooling; such as strippers, crimpers, and terminal torque wrenches
  • Basic understanding of AC/DC circuits and Ohm's Law
  • Provide excellent customer service and support during field visits, and tie workflow to schedules to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Satisfy customer needs by making appropriate recommendations and using appropriate field automation systems, procedures, and protocols.
  • Capable, willing, and interested in traveling up to 20%-25% with a valid Driver's License, which includes commercial air travel .
Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, associate's degree in a related field preferred
  • 1-3 Years of Mechanical & Electrical Experience
  • Display genuine interest in helping the customer and solving their problems
  • Strong work ethic, drive to succeed, customer service orientation as well as strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Expected to provide daily reports when supporting field activities and submit expense reports in accordance with ITW Hartness Travel Policy.

  • Physical ability to regularly lift 35 lbs., bend, and twist, stand and/or walk for an entire 10-12-hour shift. Must be able to climb above floor level. Able to work overtime or travel with short notice.
