Job summary

Ludlum Measurements, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to design, develop, test, and manufacture electronic products.

You will work on PCB fabrication, assembly, and production support, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, cost-effective designs. The role involves NPI activities, design-for-manufacturing reviews, and solving manufacturing issues across mechanical and electronic systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years in electronic product development or PCB manufacturing.
  • Experience with PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing.
  • Knowledge of PCB materials and multilayer boards; SMT and through-hole experience.
  • Ability to read drawings, schematics, and specs.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer, AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Electrical Engineers, Production Managers, and Quality Control.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and manufacturing of electronic and electromechanical systems from concept through production.
  • Help with PCB fabrication processes including material selection, stack-up design, panelization, and DFM reviews.
  • Assist with new product introduction (NPI) and transition designs to production.
  • Troubleshoot PCB assemblies and electronic systems to identify root causes and implement fixes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and supply chain to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Work with Electronic Technicians reviewing data for problem investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Ludlum Measurements, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanical/Electrical Engineer with hands‑on experience in printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication, assembly, and product development. This role is responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of electronic products while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable, cost‑effective, and manufacturable designs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of PCB design principles, fabrication processes, and engineering best practices.

Full-Time, In-Person

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support the design, development, and manufacturing of electronic and electromechanical systems from concept through production.
  • Support PCB fabrication processes, including material selection, stack‑up design, panelization, and design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) reviews.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and transition designs from development to production.
  • Troubleshoot PCB assemblies, electronic systems, and manufacturing issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and supply chain teams to improve production efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Work directly with Electronic Technicians reviewing First Pass Yield data for problem investigation and root cause analysis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in electronic product development, PCB manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Experience working with PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Understanding of PCB materials, multilayer board construction, SMT and through‑hole assembly methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and product performance issues.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as Altium Designer, AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration working with Electrical Engineers, Production Managers, and Quality Control to integrate mechanical systems with electronic assemblies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IPC standards, including IPC‑A‑610 and IPC‑2221.
  • Knowledge of design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) and design‑for‑assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Experience with embedded systems, controls, sensors, or power electronics.
  • Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001.
  • Experience working directly with PCB fabrication houses and contract manufacturers.
  • A working knowledge of Lean TPS manufacturing is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • PCB fabrication and assembly processes including pick‑and‑place, reflow, and inspection equipment including flying probe testing (FPT), solder reflow, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), and Ball Grid Array (BGA) X‑ray Inspection methods
  • Prototype development and validation
  • Have a command of PCB handling, inspection, electro‑static standards (e.g. IPC‑A‑610, IPC J‑STD‑001) and provide feedback to the design team
  • Documentation and engineering change management
